El Observatorio Cubano de Derechos Humanos (OCDH) condena la escalada represiva del régimen cubano y sus actos de violencia contra activistas pacíficos y miembros de la Sociedad Civil y la oposición política en Cuba. Estos actos incluyen detenciones arbitrarias, violencia física, golpizas y malos tratos.
Durante la semana del 15 al 22, un indeterminado grupo de personas han sido objeto de acciones violentas por parte de la policía política cubana, que este fin de semana ha golpeado, detenido y abandonado en lugares remotos, en horas de la noche, a periodistas independientes y activistas que intentaban participar en una reunión de apoyo a activistas que protestan por el encarcelamiento de Dennis Solís, uno de los miembros del Movimiento San Isidro.
Los periodistas independientes Luz Escobar y Julio Lápiz fueron detenidos cuando intentaban cubrir la reunión, y los miembros del Comité por la Integración Racial (CIR) Juan Antonio Madrazo Luna, Osvaldo Navarro Veloz y Marthadela Tamayo González fueron detenidos y maltratados. Tamayo González fue golpeada y abandonada en horas de la noche en un lugar deshabitado, sin recursos ni medios para regresar a su casa.
En esta ocasión, la prensa acreditada estuvo presente, pero la policía impidió la cobertura de esa acción pacífica e intentó arrebatar las cámaras de los reporteros presentes, mientras pedían insistentemente a la turba de miembros de las Brigadas de Respuesta Rápida que les escupieran, según afirmaron testigos.
En la capital también fueron detenidos el influencer Héctor Valdés Cocho, la líder de las Damas de Blanco, Berta Soler, y el exprisionero político Ángel Moya Acosta y Yunier Gutiérrez, periodista de la revista independiente La Hora de Cuba.
En la provincia de Matanzas fueron detenidos Iván Hernández Carrillo, Carlos Olivera, Lázaro Díaz Sánchez, Regla Burunate y Caridad Burunate.
En la provincia de Camagüey también se produjeron cuatro detenciones y una brutal golpiza a Alexis Sabatela Ugarte, colaborador del OCDH.
El OCDH condena la espiral de agresiones contra la prensa, activistas pacíficos y defensores de derechos humanos, muchos de ellos colaboradores de los diferentes mecanismos de la ONU y la OEA, con quienes trabajan en la promoción y la defensa de los derechos humanos.
Por tal motivo, el OCDH exige, de estos instrumentos, un pronunciamiento de condena a la situación de transgresión permanente en la que vive el pueblo cubano.
A la vez, reclama a la Unión Europea la aplicación de las disposiciones del acuerdo bilateral y la exigencia de obligación y respeto que se aplica a sí misma en su relación con terceros países y con sus miembros.
Mientras, solicita a todos los gobiernos democráticos, a los políticos, a los intelectuales y artistas comprometidos con los derechos humanos un pronunciamiento de respaldo para la sociedad civil cubana y para quienes se oponen a un sistema que, por más de 60 años, ha mantenido oprimido a los ciudadanos cubanos.
Los cubanos tenemos derecho a una vida de progreso y justicia, y para ello es necesario poner fin a este régimen de oprobio.
OCDH asks the EU, the OAS and the UN a statement condemning the escalation of repression in Cuba

The Cuban Observatory for Human Rights (OCDH) condemns the escalation of repression by the Cuban regime and their acts of violence against peaceful activists and members of the civil society and political opposition in Cuba.
Over the course of the week from the 15th to the 22nd, an undetermined group of people were subjected to violent actions at the hands of the Cuban political police. On this weekend, they beat, detained and abandoned in remote locations, at all hours of the night, the independent journalists and activists who tried to participate in a meeting in support of activists who are protesting against the imprisonment of Dennis Solís, a member of the San Isidro Movement.
The independent journalists Luz Escobar and Julio Lápiz were arrested when they tried to cover the meeting, and members of the Committee for Racial Integration (Comité por la Integración Racial, or CIR) Juan Antonio Madrazo Luna, Osvaldo Navarro Veloz y Marthadela Tamayo González were arrested and mistreated. Tamayo González was beaten and abandoned late into the night in a deserted location, with no resources or means to return to her home.
On this occasion, the accredited press was present, but the police blocked them from covering the peaceful event and tried to snatch the cameras of the reporters. They insistently called to the mob of members of the Brigades of Quick Response, who spit on them, witnesses claim.
In the capital, the influencer Héctor Valdés Cocho, leader of the Ladies in White (Damas de Blanco), Berta Soler, the former political prisoner Ángel Moya Acosta and journalist for the independent magazine, The Hora de Cuba, Yunier Gutiérrez, were also arrested.
Iván Hernández Carrillo, Carlos Olivera, Lázaro Díaz Sánchez, Regla Burunate and Caridad Burunate were arrested in the province of Matanzas.
In the province of Camaguey, there were also four arrests, and Alexis Sabatela Ugarte, collaborator with the OCDH, was brutally beaten.
The OCDH condemns the spiral of aggressions against the press, peaceful activists and human rights defenders, many of whom collaborate with the different mechanisms of the United Nations and the Organization of American States to work toward promoting and defending human rights.
For this reason, the OCDH demands that these organizations issue a pronouncement condemning the situation of permanent transgression in which the Cuban people live.
At the same time, the OCDH calls upon the European Union to apply the provisions for a bilateral agreement and demand it be required and respected in relations with third countries and with its members.
Likewise, the OCDH requests that all democratic governments, politicians, intellectuals and artists who are committed to human rights, make a declaration of support for the Cuban civil society and to those who oppose a system that, for more than 60 years, has oppressed the Cuban people.
The Cuban people have the right to a life of progress and justice, and to this effect, the disgraceful regime must be put to an end.
